New Bots Available in Microsoft Teams!
The Microsoft Teams client app has been updating every morning, bringing us some great improvements! My favorite so far has been the introduction of more Bots, which can be added to Teams. You can see the full list of currently available Bots below. This list has been updating daily, so be sure to check back here for more Bot updates.
So far, I have been able to add a bot to an existing Team, and have been able to chat with a bot 1:1. Here is how to add a Bot to your Team:
Click on the name of your Team.
Click on the Bots tab.
- Click on the plus (+) sign to add a bot.
Here is how you can chat with a Bot 1:1:
- Add the Bot to any Team.
When the Bot is added, it will post a message to the Conversations tab. Scroll over their name and click the Chat Icon at the bottom of the contact card. This will start a 1:1 chat.
My first impression is that once the Bots are added it is a bit difficult to understand how to use them. The Bot usually posts instructions to the conversations tab in the General channel, so you either need to start using them right away or scroll back to understand how they work. A few of the Bots have a “help” tab in a 1:1 chat, so I’ll probably reference the instructions there.
A Bot Review Each Weekday!
The good news is that I’ll be reviewing a new Bot in depth every week day, so you can have a reference for how to use Bots even after the instruction messages are lost. Stay tuned to learn which Bots work well, which require paid subscriptions, and which ones need improvement.
